HOW TO CLEAN QUARTZ COUNTERS IN 4 EASY STEPS
Enjoy your home without having to worry about the maintenance of your quartz counters. Daily use can cause them to become stained with oil, tomato, chocolate, soap or toothpaste. Cleaning these and other stains is very easy.
  • Step 1) Apply a neutral soap to the affected area with light circular pressure using a cloth.
  • Step 2) Leave to work for a couple of minutes.
  • Step 3) Then, be sure to rinse and dry thoroughly. With a clean damp cloth, wipe using light circular pressure to rinse off thoroughly. Finally, dry with a cloth in the same manner.
  • Step 4) If the stain persists, repeat the process.

HOW TO TACKLE STUBBORN STAINS
  • Limescale
    • Step 1) Apply an anti-limescale product, in small applications at a time, to the affected area with light circular pressure using a cloth.
    • Step 2) Then, be sure to rinse and dry thoroughly. With a clean damp cloth, wipe using light circular pressure to rinse off thoroughly. Finally, dry with a cloth in the same manner.
    • Step 3) If the stain persists, repeat the process.
  • Rust / Metal
    • Step 1) Apply an oxide cleaner, in small applications at a time, to the affected area using a paper towel and leave it to work for 2 minutes.
    • Step 2) Then, be sure to rinse and dry thoroughly. With a clean damp cloth, wipe using light circular pressure to rinse off thoroughly. Finally, dry with a cloth in the same manner.
    • Step 3) If the stain persists, repeat the process.
  • Wine, Coffee, Tea, & Food Coloring
    • Step 1) Dilute bleach in water (15% bleach solution). Apply bleach solution, in small applications at a time, to the affected area using a paper towel and leave it to work for 1 minute.
    • Step 2) Then, be sure to rinse and dry thoroughly. With a clean damp cloth, wipe using light circular pressure to rinse off thoroughly. Finally, dry with a cloth in the same manner.

QUARTZ CARE & MAINTENANCE
  • Take a cloth and dip it in a mild soap and warm water mixture for routine daily cleaning. Wipe using light circular pressure to wipe down the surface. Wipe them down as often as needed. Then, be sure to rinse and dry thoroughly. With a clean damp cloth, wipe using light circular pressure to rinse off thoroughly. Finally, dry with a cloth in the same manner.
  • For stubborn spots, use a soft cloth or a non-scratch scrub pad, and a mild non-abrasive cleanser, with a neutral PH (example: Weiman Quartz Countertop Cleaner). Use cleaning sprays or products that are made specifically to be used on quartz counters. Make sure the product does not have any bleach as this may damage your quartz surfaces if used in excess. If you are going to use disinfectant wipes they must also be free of bleach. After all of this, you are going to want to immediately rinse off the surface using a soft microfiber cloth. Be sure to rinse and dry thoroughly (with a clean damp microfiber cloth, wipe using light pressure in a circular motion to rinse off thoroughly and finally, dry with microfiber cloth in the same manner).
  • Honed surfaces can show fingerprints and other signs of daily living more readily than polished surfaces, and will require more frequent maintenance. Honed surfaces can be cleaned as described above.
  • Although quartz is extremely scratch resistant, it is not scratch proof. You should never cut or chop directly on your quartz counters. Always use a cutting board.
  • Always use a hot pad or trivet when setting down hot objects, such as hot pans or plates. Direct contact with extremely high heat can cause damage.
  • Take care to avoid spilling harsh chemicals such as drain cleaners, paint strippers, oven cleaners, bleaches, etc. on your quartz counters.

WATER REPELLENTS, BLEACH, SOLVENTS, ETC.
  • It is not recommended to use the following products:
    • water repellents or sealants to bring out the luster. Sealants and water repellents provide an artificial, ephemeral shine.
    • paint strippers, caustic soda, or products with a PH of more than 10.
    • bleach or solvents. Bleach and solvents can continue to affect your quartz counters 12 hours after use. When this product remains on the surface, your quartz counter may lose its sheen.
    • hydrofluoric acid, dichloromethane, NaOH (present in caustic soda or paint strippers).
    • de-greasing agents such as those used in oven cleaners.
  • Keep your quartz counters separate from sources of heat (deep-fat fryers, etc.).

TEMPERATURE
  • Although quartz can withstand high temperatures for short periods of time, its performance varies with respect to different factors like thickness, color, location, etc. For this reason, it is not recommended that the product be exposed to sustained contact with a heat source, nor should hot saucepans, frying pans, deep-fat fryers, etc. be placed on it. The use of a hot pad or trivet is recommended in such situations.
  • Do not place quartz outdoors or in places with UV lighting.
  • Over the years the color and shade of quartz products may suffer from the effect of the sun's rays.

FAQ'S ABOUT QUARTZ COUNTERS
Bleach is an alkaline product that can damage quartz counters if exposure is prolonged (over 30 minutes). As long as the surface is well rinsed after each application, you can use a diluted bleach solution on a daily basis.
After more than 30 minutes of exposure, bleach may cause a chemical reaction on the surface, staining it. These stains are permanent and are not covered by the warranty.
Quartz counters are heat-resistant. However, bear in mind that sudden changes in temperature can affect it, in the same way it would affect other stone materials. Therefore, in order to avoid damage when placing hot objects on the surface, it is highly recommended to use trivets.
Quartz not recommended for outdoor use, as UV rays can damage its surface.
To remove all traces of soap from your surface, rinse with plenty of water and a clean microfiber cloth, and then dry with a clean microfiber cloth. If stains persist, you should clean the surface with a limescale remover, a blue scouring pad, and water. Always apply light pressure and clean in a circular motion for 1 minute at a time. Then rinse with plenty of water and dry with clean microfiber cloth.
Yes, you can clean quartz counters with a disinfectant solution. Diluted products are always preferred. Undiluted products should not be left on for more than 5 minutes.
Yes, these cleaners usually contain alcohol, which makes it easier to clean and removes any soap residue.
The scratch has left a metal mark on the surface, so cleaning is needed to get the metal stain out. To do this, dilute a metal cleaner with water and use the mixture with a wet blue scouring pad (always with light pressure and in a circular motion). You can also use cleaning vinegar or an anti-limescale product.
The best way to prevent the edge from chipping is to round off the edge so as to minimise the chipping. Chipping normally occurs accidentally in frequently used areas (example: under mount sinks and dishwasher area) where they can usually be repaired. This can be done by a quartz counter restoration company who will use the right products to repair them.
Cracks on the surface cannot usually be repaired, because even if they are repaired, they continue to grow so the repair will be short lived.

We recommend using cleaning vinegar to clean and disinfect quartz counters. If you use household cleaning wipes, we advise you to test them first on one corner of the surface and check the result.
We recommend using CleanColorsil, a silicone and resin cleaner that protects the surface and keeps it sparkling. This spray cleaner is applied directly to the surface and rubbed on with a microfiber cloth until the adhesive marks are removed. Other silicone and resin removers can be used as long as they do not affect the composition and care of your quartz counters.
